Formerly entitled Scared Straight, John Carpenter‘s Riot, staring Nichols Cage, is set to hit the big screen. The synopsis for the upcoming Carpenter film is:”as part of the crime-prevention program Scared Straight, a governor’s delinquent son is sent to prison for what’s to be a short period of time. While behind bars, however, the kid is taken hostage during a riot, forcing a lifer (Cage) to come to his aid. Riot is schedule to hit theaters sometime in 2009. John Carpenter’s last three feature films, Escape from L.A., Vampires and Ghost of Mars, sucked but he does have Escape from New York and Precinct 13 under his belt so hopefully he will be back to form.
