King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Trailer 3

The third and final movie trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017) has been released by Warner Bros. It would seem that the sword Excalibur, in its new incarnation, is incredibly powerful, far more powerful than the sword has been in previous films. Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) wields what is equivalent to Thor’s hammer Mjölnir and it knocks his opponents backward (instead of cutting through them because this is a PG-13 film) as if they were weightless.

New scenes for the film are shown in this trailer. These scenes show how CGI-heavy key moments in the film will be, with animals (or mystical beasts) of gargantuan size.

I liked the fact that they inserted new elements into the Arthur and Excalibur narrative. That was admirable. I do not like the form of those new elements. I didn’t in First Knight or Camelot, and I don’t in this film. I was spoiled, long ago, by the film Excalibur, and that Rated-R impression is hard to shake.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword‘s plot synopsis: “When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.”

Guy Ritchie‘s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword also stars Hermione Corfield, Mikael Persbrandt, Eline Powell, Michael McElhatton, Annabelle Wallis, Aidan Gillen, Djimon Hounsou, Katie McGrath, Tom Wu, David Beckham, and Kamil Lemieszewski.
