Syfy Releases First Trailer for Superman Prequel Series Krypton

Syfy’s Superman prequel series Krypton has been in development for a while now. Even though the cable network hasn’t officially ordered the series, a trailer for the pilot has appeared online revealing some pretty amazing footage of the doomed planet and it’s characters.

Syfy has been shooting in Serbia for the pilot of Krypton, a series following the journey of Kal-El’s home planet before it’s destruction through the eyes of his grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) and his love Lyta Zod (Georgina Campbell). With the trailer already finding it’s way online, it appears that the show is already done filming the first episode for Syfy. In the opening of the trailer, we hear the voice of an older Seg-El as he narrates to his future grandson Kal-El about his family history and the legacy they left behind. The trailer introduces us to the House of El and their struggle to keep the family name intact while also trying to save the planet from its unfortunate doom.

The look of the show seems to draw inspiration from the opening scenes of Man of Steel, which makes sense since it’s writer David S. Goyer is also involved with the series. There is a notion that the series takes place in the same continuity as the film, making this the first TV series to be part of the DC Extended Universe.

Check out the trailer for Krypton and let us know what you think. Will you be tuning in to the Superman prequel series when it drops on Syfy later this year?
