If you can remember, Russell starred in Quentin Tarantino’s GrindhouseDeath Proof” as Stuntman Mike, where he was bested by stunt women after he tried to kill them using his ferociously suited-up vehicle. Django Unchained‘s plot synopsis: Set in the 19th century West, a former slave-turned-hired gun Django (Jamie Foxx) heads back to the plantation to free his wife from a tyrannical plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) with the help of a German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). A house slave and the right-hand man of a sadistic slave-master, Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson) – which is his fifth collaboration with Tarantino since Pulp Fiction – and Dennis Christopher, starring as Candie’s attorney Leo Moguy.

Also joining the cast is actress Laura Cayouette, who play the role of “Rocket” in Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Vol 2, will play Candie’s widowed sister, who co-owns his plantation. Still no word who will officially play Django’s wife, Broomhilda, in the film–although, it is rumored that Kerry Washington is in the mix of contenders to play Broomhilda in the film. With filming underway–Django Unchained is set to be released Christmas Day 2012.

So what do you all think of Kurt Russell replacing Kevin Costner in Django Unchained?
