Last Man Standing

Daniel LuVisi‘s graphic novel Last Man Standing movie script is being written by David Leslie Johnson. The Last Man Standing screenplay is being written for Paramount Pictures. Last Man Standing will be a scifi action film for the movie studio.

Recently published by Kevin Eastman’s Heavy Metal label, the story, set 600 years in the future, follows an invincible soldier created to help Earth win a war against Mars. After becoming a celebrity hero, he’s framed for a heinous crime by a terrorist organization. After a nine-year prison sentence, he escapes and sets out to even the score.

Scott Aversano is producing with LuVisi, while Stephan Lokotsch, Russell Binder and Peter Levin will exec produce.

Graphic novel, which took 2 1/2 years to create and sold out within two hours at the San Diego confab, is being expanded into a comic book series by Heavy Metal in addition to being developed as a multi-platform franchise property.

On David Leslie Johnson’s writing background:

Since writing the sleeper hit “Orphan” for Warner Bros., Johnson has become something of a go-to scribe for the studio. He recently scripted its fairy tale adaptation “Red Riding Hood” and co-wrote “Wrath of the Titans” for WB and Legendary Pictures. Johnson got his start as a production assistant on Frank Darabont’s “The Shawshank Redemption” and later served as Darabont’s assistant on “The Green Mile.” He recently wrote an episode of “The Walking Dead” that Darabont exec produced.
