SPACE JAM 2: LeBron James wants Sequel Film to Happen

Could Space Jam 2 happen?

LeBron James wants Space Jam Sequel. Basketball superstar LeBron James recently spoke about his desire for a  follow-up to the 1996 Michael Jordan / Looney Tunes crossover film and is optimistic about making it happen.

For a good while now, rumors have been circulating about a follow up to the 1996 cult film. Personally, I feel like the movie has one of the strangest concepts to turn into a feature film. It sounds like something out of a mad-lib game. You take Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes characters and you team them up to play basketball against aliens (who stole the powers of other basketball players to have all-star skills at the game), with the humans manager played by Danny DeVito. This sounds insane on paper, but it worked.

The Space Jam 2 rumors grew louder as LeBron James and his company, Spring Hill Entertainment, signed a deal with Warner Bros. Entertainment to make movies. There has been no official word regarding what kind of projects the two companies would make, but a lot of people have already done the math of Basketball Guy + The Home of the Looney Tunes = Space Jam 2.

In an interview on Today, he was asked about if the sequel would become an actuality. He answered, “We hope so. We’re definitely missing Bugs and Daffy and Tasmanian Devil and every last one of them, so hopefully we can do some great things.” He also mentioned that, with or without a Space Jam 2, he still wants to make movies after appearing in the Amy Schumer comedy, Trainwreck. “It’s a passion of mine. Everything I do, I have a passion about it. If we could continue it, I know I don’t have to dribble a basketball and fly through the air to do those type of things.”

As I said previously, no official word has been given about James’ involvement with Space Jam 2 or if there will ever be a Space Jam 2. But at this point, the fate of the film is up in the air. If there is enough demand to see Bugs Bunny and the gang shoot some hoops again, then maybe we’ll see another basketball match up between humans and cartoon characters again.
