Margot Robbie To Play Lead Role In Sony Pictures’ Marian

Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie has been cast as the protagonist of Sony Pictures‘ planned Robin Hood reboot Marian.

Reportedly, the proposed project revolves around what might have happened had the famed outlaw been killed and his lover Marian succeeded him as leader of the Merry Men of Sherwood Forest. It is also said that Robbie may have a hand in producing the film through her company LuckyChap Entertainment. At this point, no one else has been announced for the movie, which appears to be in very preliminary stages of development.

Interestingly, Sony’s project isn’t the only upcoming production to explore the world of Robin Hood. As a matter of fact, Lionsgate is currently working on its own take on the mythical hero, simply titled Robin Hood and starring Taron Egerton of Kingsman: The Secret Service fame.

Comingsoon.net, the source of this story, had this to share about Robbie’s current projects:

Margot Robbie had a busy 2016, starring on the big screen in Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, David Yates’ The Legend of Tarzan and in David Ayer‘s DC Comics ensemble Suicide Squad. She’s set to reprise the Harley Quinn role in Ayer’s upcoming Gotham City Sirens. Meanwhile, the actress is set to star opposite Sebastian Stan in the Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya and to appear in Sony’s Beatrix Potter adaption, Peter Rabbit.
