MARTYRS (2015) Movie Trailer: US Horror Remake Stars Troian Bellisario & Bailey Noble

Troian Bellisario Martyrs

Martyrs Trailer. Kevin Goetz, Michael Goetz‘s Martyrs (2015) movie trailer stars Troian Bellisario, Bailey Noble, Kate Burton, Caitlin Carmichael, and Toby Huss. Martyrs‘ plot synopsis: “Ten-year-old Lucie flees from the isolated warehouse where she has been held prisoner. Deeply traumatized, she is plagued by awful night terrors at the orphanage that takes her in. Her only comfort comes from Anna, a girl her own age. Nearly a decade later and still haunted by demons, Lucie finally tracks down the family that tortured her. As she and Anna move closer to the agonizing truth, they find themselves trapped in a nightmare – if they cannot escape, a martyr’s fate awaits them…”

Martyrs was the best horror film of 2008. Period. No other film came close to being a visceral or as unforgettable as Pascal Laugier‘s film that year. I’d heard about film on other websites, got a copy, watched it, and was blown away. I gave 2008’s Martyrs a 9 out of 10 rating. The film was so violent, that I have only watched it once. It is that difficult to watch.

From Imdb: “According to the directors of the film, the remake will NOT be as violent as the original, 2008 film.”

That made me laugh. A horror movie that is not horror-able. A watered-down variant.  It’s like remaking Paul Verhoeven‘s Robocop but making a PG-13 film instead of the hard R (previously that film was rated NC-17 before  cuts were made) film.

From Imdb: “The directors claim the movie is more of a re-imagining than a remake. “

From the contents of the trailer, it would seem so. They emphasizing something this time around that was marginally emphasized in the first film.

Martyrs also stars Diana Hopper, Peter Michael Goetz, Lexi DiBenedetto, Taylor John Smith, Blake Robbins, Brianna Bazler, Carissa Bazler, Eve Nigro, Elyse Cole, and Matthew Jaeger.
