Christian RiversMortal Engines (2018) movie trailer stars Robert Sheehan, Hera Hilmar, Hugo Weaving, Jihae, and Leila George. Mortal Engines‘ plot synopsis: based on the book by Philip Reeve, “Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.”

When I heard about a Mortal Engines movie and heard about the concept of the book, I thought both were laughable. I am not laughing anymore. I am intrigued, very intrigued by the central idea of this book-to-film adaptation. This teaser trailer sets an intense tone almost immediately and I loved it. The highlight was when Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) said “It’s London.”
