MORTAL KOMBAT: REBIRTH: Short Film: Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan

Mortal Kombat: Rebirth Short Film has appeared online – over seven minutes worth – and it looks good. This Mortal Kombat short film was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, and stars Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, Lateef Crowder, Matt Mullins, and Ian Anthony Dale. The fights were choreographed by Larnell Stovall. These footage shows a bloody MK with horror elements and good story telling that fans of the video game series have waited for and deserved for a long time. You really do not expect the lead-ins to be about the certain characters, which is what is great about them when whom they are about is finally revealed. The story lines have been re-engineered to fit into a modern day setting and done rather effectively. I especially like how they introduced Scorpion and Jackson Briggs “Jacks”, hope I did not ruin anything for anybody. This is

the first look at the Mortal Kombat test video shot for Warner Brothers to get funding for a full blown hard ‘R’ MK movie. Yes, this is the direction they plan on going for the Mortal Kombat reboot.

I really hope it is. If they mix in the real world seriousness of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, this film could really be something else. Check out the test video below for yourself. Mortal Kombat!
