Star Trek into Darkness

We previously published the Star Trek into Darkness (2013) Teaser Poster, the Star Trek into Darkness (2013) US teaser trailer, Japanese teaser trailer, and the Star Trek into Darkness (2013) IMAX first 9 minutes of film video.

J.J. AbramsStar Trek into Darkness (2013) stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Nolan North, Nazneen Contractor, Heather Langenkamp, Jon Lee Brody, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, and Peter Weller.

Evil Dead

Since 20th Century Fox decided to move their buddy cop comedy The Heat…from April 5th to a summer release on June 28th, that left Jurassic Park 3D as the only wide release that weekend…Sony has decided to take advantage of that schedule change and bumped up the release of Evil Dead from April 12th to the April 5th spot.

Good move in my opinion.

Fede Alvarez‘s Evil Dead (2013), co-written by Diablo Cody, stars Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jane Levy, and Shiloh Fernandez

Warcraft

Duncan Jones, the director of Moon and Source Code, has just signed on to direct Warcraft, a movie based on the extremely popular Blizzard video game world Azeroth, featured in games such as Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and World of Warcraft. Legendary Pictures has the license, and a new script by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond).

The aim is to begin shooting the genre-bending action fantasy by the end of this year for a possible 2015 release.

Le Samourai

[John Woo] began to talk actively of remaking [Jean-Pierre Melville]’s movie, and that project is still in play to some extent. In a new reeport, Woo says that the script is being worked on now, and that German financing will be one big reason to transplant the action from Paris to Berlin.

The German magazine/website Die Welt (via the Film Stage) spoke to the director, and Woo says “this is one of my next films as a director,” and proclaims that contracts are signed, though the script is still underway in the US. He says it will shoot in Berlin and Babelsberg.

Asked if the film will be shot in English, Woo ruefully agrees that it probably will, though he says he would prefer to make the film in the German language, so that it might provide a sense of what life is like in the place where the film is set.

I Declare War

Drafthouse Films has announced plans to distribute the film in the US. Drafthouse Films CEO/Founder Tim League said in a press release, ”Armed with an arsenal of extremely talented child actors and combining shades of Full Metal Jacket and Lord Of The Flies, Jason and Rob have created a one-of-a-kind action film that we couldn’t be more excited to handle in the US.”

The film will play in theaters and VOD in the latter half of 2013; the press release notes that festival bookings are available for the film through third quarter 2013, so we can probably expect the wide release to be in the year’s fourth quarter.

Mind MGMT

Scott has just signed on to produce a film adaptation of Matt Kindt’s Dark Horse comic Mind MGMT for 20th Century Fox. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg are also producing the espionage mystery thriller, which sounds perfect for Scott.

The story is about Meru, a true crime writer who searches for the truth behind a mysterious airline flight and discovers a secret government agency of super spies, espionage, and psychic abilities. Henry Lyme, the former top agent, has gone rogue and is working to dismantle the organization.
