Rosario Dawson Possibly Playing Dr. Cecilia Reyes in New Mutants

It seems like Rosario Dawson may jump from one Marvel Universe to another as she is in talks to join the upcoming X-Men spin-off film New Mutants in a role that is pretty popular in the comics. It is revealed that the actress may end up playing Dr. Cecilia Reyes in the new film.

The Hollywood Reporter received news that Rosario Dawson was in negotiations to play a character in the X-Men film New Mutants. For the Josh Boone directed film, Dawson will be playing Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a doctor and a former member of the X-Men. In the comics, she has the ability to generate a force field from her life force. The site revealed that she would serve as a mentor to the young group being featured in New Mutants. This would explain why James McAvoy wouldn’t be reprising his role as Professor X in the movie. We also learned from the site that Storm also wouldn’t be appearing in the film, which could mean that this film won’t have any of the original team making an appearance.

Dawson has some experience in the comic book genre, as she has been a part of every Marvel series on Netflix playing Claire Temple. She has also been involved in other comic book films like The Lego Batman Movie and Sin City. Having her be a part of the X-Men franchise would elevate her star status. She may be able to play the role well since she has portrayed a character in the medical field for Marvel. What do you guys think of her possibly entering the X-Men film series?
