It looks great! I love the not-so-clean look of Joker’s face, like smeared lipstick on overdrive. Can hardly wait for this movie

This movie looks wicked, I hope they don’t cut the scene with Ledger playing dead in a body bag.

@ asd, Definitely.
@ itsalljustaride, Those don’t look photo-shopped to me.
@Ki Ki, Batman is probably my favorite as well.[Reply]

They definitely look like they’ve been ran through some kind of filter. The first two especially. Look at the background on the first one, and his badge. And the lines on the second one are way too crisp and make it look drawn. Hallmarks of a bad pseudo-HDR job. Not saying the somehow superimposed a police uniform on the Joker, just that someone decided to “get creative” with the color and sharpness.

Since they might be promotional pics that were leaked prematurely, you may be right. Who wouldn’t want their film and the pics promoting them to look as good as possible?

There’s no HDR or colour/contrast effects on these pictures. The police shot is just higher film grain because they’ve zoomed-in on the still to isolate The Joker. The other frame (with the nurse’s outfit) is just really compressed. There were a handful of shots filmed on Imax film. compress that down to half the size of a postcard and it WILL look like that. Read a book, before you go playing detective for no reason at all. Anybody who knows anything can tell exactly what’s going on . . . unless they’re too used to LucasFilm movies to recognize film grain when they see it.

Thanks for that completely childish ad-hominem rant Joshua, I’ll be sure to look into these things you call “books”. I was merely trying to point out the characteristics of the images that made me think they had been altered somehow. Is it not understandable that a high compression rate could make an image look like it had been ran through a filter to a non-professional? I repeat that last part again, non-professional, since I never claimed to have some kind of expertise here, I’ve just seen enough bad HDR images on the net that do in fact have a lot of grain (maybe from compression, ok, I’ll concede that, but still) to think maybe this had run afoul of some guy with too much time on his hands.
Congratulations, you win the elitist prick award for today.

Also, just to make my point clear here, had you stopped before the “read a book” sentence, I probably would have said, “oh, yeah, that sounds about right, thanks for the insight.” But instead you chose the low road. Next time try framing your argument in a way that doesn’t befit a 10 year old.

Heath Ledger’s Joker is truly amazing. Thriving in chaos, much better than Jack Nicholson’s Joker (1989). He should get an Oscar, even in death.

Ledger disappears in this role completely. That high-strung voice he uses for The Joker is great. He is very good. He will get nominated but I don’t think he will win the Oscar.

Batman: The Dark Knight – It’s Awesome!…
Batman: The Dark Knight is so far the best film I’ve seen this year. It was even better than Batman Begins and I loved that.
Rather than just being a very good superhero film, Batman: The Dark Knight feels like a crime thriller, like The Departe…
