The newcomers took the gold this weekend at the box office. The re-teaming of Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) in Fool’s Gold took in $22 Million this weekend for the number 1 spot. Martin Lawrence’s new family comedy, Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, took the number two spot with a little over $17 Million. I personally thought both of these films looked generic but there has been a lack of good comedy/family movies in the last few weeks, and no, Meet the Spartans does not count. And since Juno is not what most would consider mainstream because of its subject matter, it does not count in those categories either. The number one movie from last week, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, dropped to the number 3 spot this weekend with $10.5 Million. The Eye was number four with $6.6 Million and Juno, after 10 weeks in theaters, was number five with $5.7. More and more people are discovering this gem, keeping it alive and a vibrant theatrical commodity. 27 Dresses was number six, The Bucket List was number seven, Rambo dropped to eighth place and Meet the Spartans fell to ninth. There Will Be Blood rounded out the top ten.
