Fans are getting a surprise before New York Comic Con as Valiant Comics announced that actor Jason David Frank would be playing comic book character Bloodshot for their web series Ninjak. To get a first look, we have an image of the martial artist as Bloodshot.

The web series Ninjak is getting a lot of buzz as Valiant Comics is looking to make their property into a film and TV franchise. Released by Bat in the Sun, the image looks pretty cool and we have no doubt that Jason David Frank will pull off this role. Famous for his portrayal as Tommy Olive/Green Ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the 90s, this should give us an idea of what to expect from the new series.

For those who aren’t familiar with the character, Bloodshot is a former soldier who gets recruited by the Project Rising Spirit Program to create the ultimate super soldier. The experiment gains him regenerative powers and superhuman abilities after nanites are injected into his blood system. After his memory gets wiped, Bloodshot goes out to discover who he really is and get revenge on those who did this to him.

In the past, Hollywood has been trying to get Bloodshot into a feature film. Sony recently got the rights to adapt much of the Valiant comics to create a film universe surrounding the characters, starting with Bloodshot and Harbinger.

The live-action Ninjak series will be making it’s debut at New York Comic Con this week, with Arrow’s Michael Rowe taking on the title role. Other characters appearing in the web series include Manowar, Divinity, Faith, Eternal Warrior, Timewalker, and even Savange.

Let us know what you think of Frank as Bloodshot. Are you excited to see the former Green Ranger play Valiant’s most dangerous assassin?
