Weekend Impressions:
The Fate of the Furious will be the Number One film at the box office over the weekend for the third weekend in a row. The Fate of the Furious made $38 Million last weekend. I don’t see any of this week’s new releases coming any where near that number. At best, the top new release of this weekend will make between $20-to-$23 Million. The Fate of the Furious should make in the high twenty-to-low thirty million dollar range this weekend.
The top new release this weekend, The Circle, has star-power behind it but mixed reviews in front of it. Because of the latter, The Circle will open in Second Place. The trailers for this film have all said that “someone is watching you.” The birth and propagation of that watchful entity, The Circle, seems to be the antagonist in the film. That and its stars seem to be all the film has going for it.
The Baby Boss will be Number Three this weekend at the Box Office.
Beauty and the Beast will be Number Four.
Going in Style will be Number Five.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is the wild card this weekend. It may open in the top ten, possibly even the Top Five, since Going in Style only made $4.9 Million last weekend.
