Weekend Impressions:

The LEGO Batman Movie will be the Number One film at the box office for the second weekend in a row. The Great Wall will find its audience this weekend but not enough to overcome The LEGO Batman Movie film. I expect The Great Wall to do very well internationally, especially with its international cast, the fact that they shot on The Great Wall of China, and all of the high-end CGI on-screen. In the United States, The Great Wall is not going to do as well, especially against less predictable films.

Fifty Shades Darker will be Second this weekend. There will be people that weren’t able to see the film last weekend and also some hold-overs, people seeing the film for a second time.

The Great Wall will be Third this weekend. The film, however, will experience a big drop in attendance next weekend. This will be do to the fact that people will have already gone to see the film, purely for the spectacle of it, and that curiosity will have been satiated.

John Wick: Chapter Two will be Fourth this weekend. John Wick: Chapter Two will have hold-overs and newbies will venture to see the latest Keanu Reeves outing. Between John Wick: Chapter Two and The Great Wall, John Wick: Chapter Two looks like the far better action film this weekend.

Fist Fight, a generic-looking comedy and a pseudo-Three O’Clock High re-make, will round out the Top Five at the Unites States box office.
