Weekend Impressions
Fifty Shades Freed will be Number One at the box office over the weekend. The third and final movie in the Fifty Shades of Grey film franchise has a strong enough book and theatrical fan base that the film will easily be the top film this weekend. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle only made $10.9 Million last weekend. Fifty Shades Freed made $5.6 Million on Thursday night (February 8, 2018).
Universal Pictures really knew how to market this Fifty Shades of Grey film franchise, tying it to the Valentine’s Day, love, and the amorous sentiments that permeate that day.
Peter Rabbit will be Second at the box office over the weekend. Peter Rabbit is a family film, the film has name recognition, and its a high-end (apparently), VFX, animated film. Unfortunately, the film has not been getting good reviews.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be Third at the box office over the weekend. The previous weekend was the last weekend that Jumanji 2 will be Number One at the box office. To date, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle‘s run at the box office has been unprecedented, ensuring that a third film in the series will be created.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure will be Fourth at the box office over the weekend.
Winchester will be Fifth at the box office over the weekend. This will be the last weekend in which Winchester is in the Top Five at the box office.
