Oscars 2014: Ellen DeGeneres Hosting the Academy Awards Show

Ellen DeGeneres Oscars

Ellen DeGeneres is hosting the 2014 Oscars. The 2014 Academy Awards, a presentation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres. This will be the second time Ellen DeGeneres has hosted the movie awards show. “The producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, caused some backlash last year after giving the job to Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the “Family Guy” animated show on the Fox network. Mr. MacFarlane received some harsh reviews for his crude humor. But ratings were up, especially among the younger viewers the Oscar telecast had been losing.”

They are giving the job to a comedian again, hoping to continue the upward trend in ratings. A good hedge except that MacFarlane’s appeal reaches beyond his comedic skills.
