Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Trailer 2 and Poster 2

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has released the second movie trailer and movie poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). I have not seen the last few Pirates of the Caribbean films. They began to lose the magic that made the original film special. Through the back story of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) presented in this trailer – its most compelling aspect – some of that magic seems to have returned.

Watching  younger Jack Sparrow gloat as Captain Salazar sailed past to his death was the segment’s apex.

That aspect of the trailer cast a favorable light on what followed. Those key moments from Jack and Salazar’s past were the foundation on which the comedy in the trailer could land so successfully. Hopefully that backstory will have the same result in the film as well.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales‘ plot synopsis: “The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea — notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy.

At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.”
