PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5: Orlando Bloom May Return, Knightley Will Not

Orlando Bloom May Return For Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Kiera Knightley Won’t. According to ‘Yahoo!’, at Australia’s Oz-Con, Bloom mentioned the possibility of returning to feature in Capt. Sparrows latest adventure. He was last seen in the third part of the epic Disney franchise, portraying Will Turner, a blacksmith, fighter, pirate, and occasional foil to Johnny Depp’s character.

Though nothing has been decided yet, Bloom was optimistic as he mentioned ongoing discussions to take part in the fifth installment. The film is expected to begin shooting early next year and is slated for a July 2017 release, though, with those dates being so far away there is always a chance of things being moved around. Johnny Depp is already involved in the project, expressing his desire to return to the role soon after the fourth installment came out. Geoffrey Rush and Keith Richards have also expressed their desire to return for a fifth film (though, the last two are not confirmed).

Blooms last appearance (spoiler alert!) saw him leave his wife (played by Kiera Knightley) to fulfill an oath as the new somewhat zombie-like captain of the Flying Dutchman-leaving his heart in a small box for his wife to care for. So if things remain the same it’s likely the Flying Dutchman will make an appearance in the film, though to what extent still remains a mystery.

What isn’t a mystery is whether or not Kiera Knightley will appear in the film.

Actress Keira Knightley has confirmed that she is not going to be a part of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5.’

During a visit to Toronto International Film Festival to promote ‘The Imitation Game’, she said ‘the ship has sailed’ for her to join the fifth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie, reported Ace Showbiz.

Jeff Nathanson and Terry Rossio have been chosen to write the film with Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg picked to direct. The film is expected to be filmed in Australia, after Disney chiefs were offered massive tax breaks if they filmed there.

With the film set to for a summer 2017 release, things are likely to change, in terms of cast and story. As initial talks go, it seems like Disney is keen to bring back some of the cast from the original trilogy after the fourth installment lackluster performance at the box office.
