POWER RANGERS: Six-Film Arc Planned; Green Ranger Teased

Power Rangers Sequel

Power Rangers To Be Six Films with Green Ranger Included

Power Rangers has finally released to the public and if it does well, there’s a possibility that we may get more. According to producer Haim Saban and Red Ranger actor Dacre Montgomery, they seem pretty optimistic in the movie franchise’s future.

Lionsgate has a potential franchise in their hands with Power Rangers, and there is certainly a lot riding on its success. If it does well, we may be entering a new trend in superhero films for the teen market, but If it fails to live up to expectations, then it will be difficult to get another chance to show fans this team on the big screen in the near future. So far, it’s been getting some good reviews and should make some serious dough at the box office. With some positive word-of-mouth, there’s no doubt that the film may become a hit.

Variety recently spoke with producer Haim Saban, the man behind the franchise. He already has a plan for the film if it does become a success. In fact, he said, “We already have a six-movie story arc.” He didn’t give anything beyond that regarding what the plot will be for this arc, but since there’s over 20 years of material that’s available, there are certainly all kinds of directions that the franchise can go. We may even end up seeing some different versions of the Power Rangers like Zeo, Turbo, or In Space. It’s even been hinted that the sequel may involve the plot of the five-part ‘Green with Evil’.

Saban further added that giving the ‘90s series a modern upgrade have been customary to the Marvel and DC films. “But today’s young audience is much more sophisticated, Think about movies like ‘Jungle Book’ and ‘Arrival.’ The effects are mind-boggling. So does the young audience expect more? You bet they do — and they will have it.” After saying this, Saban felt confident that the audience will accept the new heroes and that they won’t be disappointed with the result. “If this film is as successful as I hope on March 24, on March 25 we’ll have the first story meeting for Movie No. 2.”

Dacre Montgomery also spoke about the franchise’s future when he spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, hinting at a second chapter to the story. “I would love to think there will be more films. I guess we’re going to see how we do at the box office and play it from there. But I think everybody else is definitely treating this as an origins film, the first of a few.” Let’s hope it comes to that. We also have the Green Ranger helmet as well, which you can see below.
