AMC’s Preacher Call and Response extended clips. With the entirety of Annville (including that creep in the Prairie Dog suit) eager to see Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) either succeed spectacularly, or fail epically, a more in-depth look at the Preacher season finale has been arranged, by I-don’t-care-just-gimme.
The opening five minutes expand on the previously released clip – involving Tulip’s (Ruth Negga) intended rescue of Jess, from a surprisingly accommodating Donnie (Derek Wilson) – adding a bit more set-up to the event being staged. Certainly a lot has happened between episodes (again, the accommodating Donnie thing), and the tail-end to the addendum fills in more detail.
Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) got pinched, during this period, and after some encouraging words (to the other guy with a thing about the Prairie Dog), Cass & the Sheriff (W. Earl Brown) have a little bar talk about Eugene (Ian Colletti). The bars that separates, not serves drinks, mind you; but it looks like Cass may be in for a bit of both. Carrots & sticks come in many forms – some gooeyer than others.
Whichever Cass got served, he still manages to make it to the church on time. After what seems like an oddly tender reunion with Tulip (odd on her part, anyway), the prospect of the Genesis Trio finally getting together takes a backseat, as seemingly every (surviving) resident of Annville (including that creep in the Prairie Dog suit) settles in for the closing act.
Noticeably absent: Mayor Miles. Noticeably present: Sheriff Root. Eagerly awaited: God – or a Holy meltdown of equal or greater spectator value….
‘Call and Response’ also stars Lucy Griffiths, Anatol Yusef, Tom Brooke, Richard Barela, Gianna LePera, Juliana Potter, Graham McTavish, and Jackie Earle Haley. It airs Sunday, July 31, at 9:00pm EST, on AMC.
