AMC Renews Preacher For an Expanded Second Season to Air in 2017. Jesse Custer will have many more sermons to come as AMC has just officially renewed the critically acclaimed series Preacher for a second season, which will return in 2017 with 13 brand new episodes.

Despite not-so-stellar ratings, the comic book adaptation of Preacher has been picked up for an expanded second season, according to a press release by the network. Even though the show has maintained the tone of the comics and stayed mostly true to the characters, the series has deviated a bit from the comics and acts more as a prequel to introduce us to Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) and his crew. When season two hits next year, we might end up seeing the beloved preacher and his pals Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) on the road.

Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season,” said AMC President Charlie Collier. “What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”

AMC will host a marathon of the first five episodes on Thursday, June 30 leading up to a brand new episode on Sunday night. Are you guys excited for another season of Preacher?
