RAMBO 5: Sylvester Stallone Returns to Take On a Mexican Cartel; Production Begins in September

Sylvester Stallone Rambo First Blood

Rambo 5 Features Stallone Against a Cartel, Production Begins this Fall

A fifth Rambo film, or First Blood film if you are a purist, is moving forward. Film production on Rambo 5 will begin in September 2018 in the Canary Island, London, and Bulgaria. Actor, writer, and director Sylvester Stallone said previously that he wouldn’t return to the John Rambo role. Perhaps that decision was based on Rambo 4. The fourth Rambo film, entitled Rambo, was good but it was not great. It was not Rocky Balboa.

Maybe it is Sylvester Stallone‘s increasing age that made another go around as a Green Beret prohibitive. Stallone will be seventy-one when production begins on Rambo 5.

Whatever the reason against returning to the role, it may have been the quality of script for Rambo 5, written by Matt Cirulnick, that finally convinced Stallone:

The new film finds John Rambo coping with intense PTSD while living on a ranch in Arizona, trying to pick up casual work wherever he can. Soon his friend and estate manager Maria informs him that her granddaughter went missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, so John travels south of the border to find the youngster. The quest quickly turns into a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring, teaming up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped. Rambo has to deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.

News of the fifth Rambo film was revealed by Millennium Films actively seeking international distribution sales for Rambo 5 at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

No other actors, or a director, have been announced for Rambo 5.
