Raw Green and Red Band Trailer

Julia Ducournau‘s Raw (2016) green band and red band movie trailer stars Garance Marillier, Ella Rumpf, Rabah Nait Oufella, Laurent Lucas, and Bouli Lanners. Raw‘s plot synopsis: “Everyone in Justine’s family is a vet. And a vegetarian. At sixteen she’s a brilliant student starting out at veterinary school where she experiences a decadent, merciless and dangerously seductive world. Desperate to fit in, she strays from her family principles and eats RAW meat for the first time. Justine will soon face the terrible and unexpected consequences as her true self begins to emerge…”

The last two-thirds of the red band trailer is how you sell a horror movie to the jaded and to horror cinephiles alike. It was really chilling to see Justine (Garance Marillier) biting into herself, while on top of a guy, and enjoying the blood erupting from the arm wound. She really descends into madness in Raw and I look forward to watching the journey.

The green band trailer is the more tamer (obviously) and traditional of the two trailers. Structure-wise, the green band trailer was put together with a keener eye.

Raw has been making the rounds in the festival circuit for the better part of a year now, accumulating accolades along the way. The red band trailer is not shy about showing some of those accolades and lauding the film.
