The period drama takes audiences back in time 500 years to watch the unknown and never-before-told story of Mary Queen of Scots unravel.

The New York Comic Con 2013 panel for Reign:
In attendance were stars Adelaide Kane (Teen Wolf), Toby Regbo (One Day), and Torrance Combs (The Tudors) along with executive producer Laurie McCarthy (CSI: Miami).
*The moderator asked the three young stars about the comparisons the show will get to contemporaries such as Tudors
*The panelists laughed and noted that the CW Network would be tamer with nudity and sexual encounters. While the show promises to be “sexy’ there are certain limitations.
*The moderator asked Regbo and Coombs what some of their favorite parts of shooting were. The two commented about an archery competition that grew a little out of hand.
*Kane told a humorous story of a horse stepping on her cloak when she was horseback riding and falling off.
*The group also commented on the extravagant costumes. Contemporary designers including Jimmy Choo, Givenchy, and the late Alexander McQueen allowed for their designs and work to be featured in the show.
*Executive producer Laurie McCarthy also took pride in the use of modern musicians to give a boost of fresh energy to a historically-based series. Mumford & Sons music is featured in the pilot episode.
*The group mentioned that eight episodes have already been completed and five more are left
*The group mentioned a humorous story when filming an episode in Ireland. They praised a very young actress who managed to hold her composure when thousands of tiny pin-sized flies were on her face and getting into her costumes. Other members of the cast were not able to hold their composure as well, specifically an actor playing a large brutish British soldier. It was a humorous comparison.
The New York Comic Con 2013 panel footage for Reign:
Audiences were given a first-look at Reign’s first episode for the CW Network. The show first opens with a mysterious allure and text overlaid on images, first giving audiences the historical setting for Mary and her new journey. The story first starts with Mary at the convent. Nuns and other young girls surround her. While the convent eats a meal outside one of the nuns begins to froth at the mouth and bleed from the ear. Within seconds she has died. It is announced this has been an assassination attempt on the Queen of Scots (Mary) and it is no longer safe for her to stay.
Mary is transported to France where she is reunited with her friends, now ladies in waiting: Lola (Anna Popplewell), Kenna (Caitlin Stasey), Greer (Celina Sinden), and Aylee (Janessa Grant). The ladies are supportive of Mary and understand that while there is currently an alliance between France and Scotland, Mary needs to marry Francis soon to secure her position. The women also have their own agendas, hoping for love and romance as well. The audience also meets Prince Dauphin Francis (Regbo) and his half-brother Sebastian (Bash) (Torrance Coombs). Bash is the product of King Henry II and his mistress.
While half-prince, he will never inherit the throne. The Queen, Catherine de’Medici (Megan Follows), is hopeful that young Francis and Mary will find love. But her attitude changes quickly when Nostradamus (Rossif Sutherland) sees Francis’ future, a death caused by Mary. A clear love triangle between Bash, Francis, and Mary is being built. Francis is resistant to marry Mary.
Eloquent costuming, beautiful landscapes, and contemporary music featuring Mumford & Sons gives high hopes for a sexy, thrilling, and fun series.
