RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION (2012): Plot, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon Return

Michelle Rodriguez, Resident Evil 2002

Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon return for Resident Evil: Retribution and Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)’s plot has been revealed. Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth film in the Resident Evil franchise.

We previously reported on Sienna Guillory‘s return to the zombie horror series as Jill Valentine here: Resident Evil: Retribution: Sienna Guillory returns for the 2012 Horror Movie. Both Milla Jovovich (Alice) and Shawn Roberts (Wesker) are returning as well but some long deceased Resident Evil alum are coming back as well.

Colin Salmon and Michelle Rodriguez are also back on the fifth Resident Evil film. This is surprising as they both died in the first film. Salmon by laser grid and Rodriguez became a zombie.

I have no idea how they will be returning. Maybe it will be a flashback or clones.

Regarding characters from Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: Retribution‘s plot synopsis:

K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Claire (Ali Larter) and brother Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller) are captured by the Umbrella Corporation while the heroes must battle the Las Plagas variant of the infected, meaning the mindless zombies are replaced by stronger, scarier monsters.

I do not know if that means they will be featured in the film (possible cameos) or not. Right now on IMDb they are not listed as cast members but that could all change once production nears start up. Actress Milla Jovovich says they will not appear.

Milla Jovovich dropped this spoilers about the film:

– Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton will make their first appearances in the series along with Ada Wong, who was in theResident Evil 2, 4, and The Darkside Chronicles video games. Shawn Roberts will also return to play the villainous Albert Wesker.

– Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller), Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), and K-Mart (Spencer Locke) won’t return because they’ve been abducted by the Umbrella Corporation. Sienna Guillory will be back again as Jill Valentine however and you can expect some fireworks between her and Alice (Jovovich).

– Remember mind-controlling parasite “Las Plagas” in Resident Evil 4? It’s bacccckkkk. She tweeted: “alright guys! gotta go! 1 let mini spoiler tho! we will hve the Las Plagas parasite!!! have an awesome day!”

– Jovovich says she is hopeful that a sixth Resident Evil keeps all the major characters together, alluding of course that all of the new characters will survive Retribution.

She also tweeted the following:

“the red square sequence is THE MOST COMPLICATED CHASE SCENE PAUL (her husband / director) HAS EVER PLANNED FOR! ITS GONNA BE EPIC!”

“its gonna be SIIIIICK!! paul leaves the production meeting reeling from the logistical complications off how 2 shoot them!!”

“we’ll b the 1st movie 2 hve a chase scene in a rolls royce which we will get shot up, but still runs cause they’re awesome!”

It looks like the cheese is returning to Resident Evil – if it ever left – along with other characters. I was hoping they would avoid the mistakes mentioned here: Resident Evil: Afterlife: What this Horror Franchise Movie did Wrong but I guess not.

One final tidbit on Resident Evil: Retribution:

Director Paul WS Anderson will be filming in 3D using the Cameron-Pace Group’s Fusion 3D camera like he did on the last film.

What do you think of Michelle Rodriguez and Colin Salmon returning from the dead? Good move or bad move?

  • I am honestly tired of the franchise. I wonder just how far ‘Resident Evil’ will go–without the concern for repetition. I guess as long as people will watch–the millions will add up and hence, more of the same.

  • Its all about name recognition and money now.

Ugh the more they try to make these movies like the game the further from it they stray. Talk about taking a solid game series and utterly raping the shit out of it.
