Ridley Scott may adapt The Forever War

This is great news. I love The Forever War by Joe Haldemen. Its a great read. The thought of what Ridley Scott, the director of Alien and Blade Runner, two of Science Fiction’s greats, can do with the materials puts a big’ol smile on my face. I know certain plot points will be dropped, but the different earths, the main character’s eventual nickname (very funny in the context of one of the earth he returns to), the advances in technology, etc.

All great concepts (Time Deletion), both social and physical. Plus the suits and the action are badass. And that planet they train on and…I giving away way too much aren’t I? Just read the fraking book already. Can I help it if I’m psyched? I read two of Haldeman’s other books, the sequel to The Forever War, Forever Free and then Forever Peace just because The Forever War was so entertaining. I’m into Sci-Fi stuff. I just finished reading 2001: A Space Odyssey plus I’ve read Starship Troopers, War of the Worlds, Contact and all six original Dunes. And before anybody says it, I know I have to read Ender’s Game. I hear that paean all the time. So what do you think of this recent Ridley Scott news? Excited, I’m not, lol.
