RISE (2016) Short Film: Anton Yelchin Leads a Robot Revolution in 2043

Anton Yelchin Rise

Rise Short Film. David Karlak‘s Rise (2016) short film stars Anton Yelchin and Rufus Sewell. Rise‘s plot synopsis: “In the near future, sentient robots are targeted for elimination after they develop emotional symmetry to humans and a revolutionary war for their survival begins.”

Fantastic short film. One of the best I have ever seen. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton wrote Rise like a top-notch short story, with a beginning, middle, and end with elements of Blade Runner and Terminator.

Great dialogue as well: “We know how to unwelcome a species.”

The film basically chronicles a new minority group created by humanity, a group that has no rights and is not seen as human. Historically, that sounds familiar.

If this is a proof of concept film, everyone involved nailed it. I would rather see this as an on-going TV series than a film though. Humans has nothing on this Rise.
