Screen Actors Guild Awards 2016: Winners – Idris Elba, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson

Idris Elba Statues Screen Actors Guild Awards 2016

Idris Elba, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, and other winners of the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced. The 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards “are an annual award given by the Screen Actors Guild to recognize outstanding performances by members…Of the top industry accolades presented to performers, only the Screen Actors Guild Awards are selected solely by actors’ peers.”

This year’s Screens Actors Guild awards were certainly surprising. Idris Elba winning twice during the evening is something very few people could have foreseen.

Orange is the New Black won twice as well, with Uzo Aduba bringing home a win for Female Actor in a Comedy Series. Brie Larson turned in a great performance in Room as did Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant. Both were recognized with statutes. I haven’t seen Alicia Vikander‘s performance in The Danish Girl but it has been getting a lot of positive buzz. This win will only further that.

Mad Max: Fury Road winning for best stunt ensemble in a motion picture was a no-brainer as was Game of Thrones win on the TV side of things, though Marco Polo had some go set-piece battles.
