SHAZAM (2019): Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam to Be Ruthless with Charm

The Rock Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson Tweets About Black Adam Role in Shazam. Fans have been excited about Shazam ever since it’s announcement back in September, especially Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who plays villain Black Adam. The Rock answered a tweet regarding the role for the DC Comics film.

During a Twitter session with fans last weekend, Johnson teased what we should expect when he suits up to play Black Adam in 2019’s Shazam film. When he was asked if there were any other superheroes or villains he’d like to play, he replied: “Can’t wait to play BLACK ADAM. We’ll find that anti-hero balance of ruthless rip your throat out w/ wonderful charm.”

Well according to The Rock himself, Black Adam would be portrayed as a anti-hero type character. This should go well with fans of the comics since Black Adams was known for being an anti-hero before the New 52 era.

Created back in 1945, Black Adam first appeared in the issue Marvel Family #1. Black Adam became a villain against Shazam before he went on to play a bigger role in the DC Universe, especially in the 2006 weekly series 52 where he was one of the leads.

Shazam, which has screenwriter Darren Lemke writing the script, is still in the development stages with no director or lead actor to play the title character announced yet. Shazam is scheduled to be released on April 5, 2019.
