Shazam

A Shazam motion picture is finally coming to cineplexes around the globe but not soon. The Warner Bros. superhero will be released in 2019, specifically on April 5, 2019.

Zachary Levi has been cast as Shazam, “the alter ego of Billy Batson, a boy who, by speaking the magic word “SHAZAM” (acronym of six “immortal elders”: Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury), [and] can transform himself into a costumed adult with the powers of superhuman strength, speed, flight, and other abilities.”

Mark Strong will play the villain Doctor Sivana in Shazam.

Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke wrote the script for the David F. Sandberg-directed film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The third Guardians of the Galaxy film, entitled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, will not be released for two years. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in U.S. theaters, through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, in 2020. Disney and Marvel have three undisclosed films hitting movie theaters in 2020 on the following dates: May 1, 2020, August 7, 2020, and on November 6, 2020.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will presumably be taking one of those three release slots. Marvel is simply playing its release cards close to the chest.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s plot synopsis “Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.”

James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 starred Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Nathan Fillion, Tommy Flanagan, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close, Sylvester Stallone, Chris Sullivan, Elizabeth Debicki, Pom Klementieff, and Sean Gunn.
