Jessica Biel and Richard Schiff eyed for the cast of Shock And Awe. The two actors are the latest to be mentioned in connection with the political drama from Academy Award-nominated director Rob Reiner.
Biel has already signed onto the project, but final talks are still underway for Schiff to appear. Set to start production in September, the film already has James Marsden, Milla Jovovich, Alec Baldwin, Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, and Alec Baldwin among the ranks of its cast.
Focusing on skeptical journalists who challenged the Bush administration’s rationale for invading Iraq, Shock And Awe promises to stir further discussion about one of the most controversial issues of recent years:
The movie follows Knight-Ridder reporters Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel, who, after the events of 9/11, meet with their bureau chief John Walcott to get to the bottom of who was responsible. They find that the Bush Administration was trying to tie Saddam Hussein to the terror attacks, even though there was no true evidence to support the claim.
As the push for war in Iraq increases, they bring in legendary reporter Joe Galloway to give them the high-level sources to help counter the false narrative of Hussein, al-Qaeda and WMDs. After the invasion, their reporting proves true.
Biel is repped by WME and LBI Entertainment. Schiff is repped by Paradigm, Curtis Brown Group and Leverage Management. Tennie, a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, is represented by Abrams Artists Agency and Primary Wave Entertainment.
