Shot Caller Trailer and Poster

Ric Roman Waugh‘s Shot Caller (2017) movie trailer and movie poster stars Jon Bernthal, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emory Cohen, Lake Bell, and Benjamin Bratt. Shot Caller‘s plot synopsis: “Jacob Harlon is a successful businessman with a loving family when the car he is driving post-celebratory drinks crashes, killing a passenger. After arriving at a maximum security prison he is quickly swept up by the violent rites of passage that seem to be the only way to navigate the brutality of the environment. Hardened by his new reality, he transforms into Money, a stoic gangster whose strength and intelligence make him an asset to his gang even beyond the prison walls. Following his release, Money is tailed by the police and threats from his incarcerated friends make him feel obligated to pull off one last crime.”

When I originally heard the premise of this film, I wasn’t impressed. Now that I have seen the official trailer for Shot Caller, I want to see the film. It has a Felon feel to it. Felon turned out to be a far better film than I had been expecting and Shot Caller may be more of the same.

Jacob Harlon (Jacob Harlon) gets dragged into a blackhole by his prison environment. The look on his wife’s face as she sees him transform, little by little into a complete stranger (and his shame about the transformation), will be some of the best moments in the film.  The teaser trailer for this film (which we have for you below), released in April 2017, spoils a few things, so be wary before watching it.

FilmBook will be attending the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival this month. We will be screening and reviewing Shot Caller so stayed tuned for the review.

Shot Caller also stars Jeffrey Donovan, Jessy Schram, Omari Hardwick, Holt McCallany, Evan Jones, Michael Landes, Juan Pablo Raba, Matt Gerald, and Chris Browning.
