Richie Smyth‘s The Siege of Jadotville (2016) movie trailer stars Jamie Dornan, Mark Strong, Mikael Persbrandt, Jason O’Mara, and Guillaume Canet. The Siege of Jadotville’s plot synopsis: based on the novel by Declan Power, “THE SIEGE OF JADOTVILLE tells the true story of the 1961 siege of a 150-member Irish U.N. battalion under Commander Patrick Quinlan (Jamie Dornan) by 3,000 Congolese troops, led by French [commander Falques (Guillaume Canet)] and Belgian mercenaries working for mining companies.”

This looks like a David vs. Goliath story but on a much larger scale. What makes it even more thrilling in that the U.N. soldiers didn’t secure the town properly before the attack. There were large openings in their defenses. Perhaps they didn’t have the resources to do so.

I could say more about the plot of this film but that would give away what happened and how it was resolved. Remember, this really happened.

The Siege of Jadotville is also a showcase of Jamie Dornan in an action role. This is far different than his role as a seducer in Fifty Shades Darker.

The Siege of Jadotville also stars Michael McElhatton, Sam Keeley, Danny Sapani, Amy Louise Wilson, Ronan Raftery, Charlie Kelly, Conor MacNeill, Mike Noble, and Fionn O’Shea.
