The casting of Stacy Keach in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2013) answers the question of who will play Herr Wallenquist in the Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller directed film. “Keach will play mob boss Wallenquist, described by Miller as ‘the one man who can’t be redeemed in Sin City. Herr Wallenquist aka “the Kraut” is the mysterious and powerful German-American leader of the Basin City mob. His goal is merely to achieve power and profit, regardless of what underhanded methods are necessary. Unlike the other criminals, however, he is somewhat an honorable person, as he sees revenge as an unnecessary extravagance and will often take losses with a fair amount of dignity. Rodriguez’s noir sequel adapts two plotlines from Frank Miller‘s original comics, weaving them with new arcs penned just for the movie by Miller. The tale that gives the film its name is one of the series’ best known, and follows the character Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) as he reconnects with his old flame Ava.

Specifically:

The story begins as Dwight McCarthy, working as a photographer for a grossly overweight man named Agamemnon, saves one of the Old Town prostitutes from one of her customers, whom Dwight was investigating on behalf of his wife; he then drives her back to Old Town. That night, he receives a call from a woman named Ava, asking him to meet her at a seedy bar called Kadie’s Club Pecos. Dwight is suspicious of her, as Ava broke his heart four years ago by running off with another richer man, but he agrees to meet her anyway.
