Emily Browning, Rachael Blake, Les Chantery, Sleeping Beauty

The Sleeping Beauty Movie Trailer has premiered. Julia Leigh‘s Sleeping Beauty (2011) stars Emily Browning, Rachael Blake, Michael Dorman, Mirrah Foulkes, and Ewen Leslie. Sleeping Beauty‘s plot synopsis: “Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy (Emily Browning) is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy’s absolute submission. This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy’s daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep.”

The plot for this film is certainly unique. It’s look and themes may remind the viewer of Eyes Wide Shut and Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl. “Sleeping Beauty is both written and directed by first-time Australian filmmaker Julia Leigh, who is a novelist making her major leap into cinema with this film. Sleeping Beauty is being presented by legendary Oscar winning director Jane Campion.”

It’s not unique premise. The t.v. show ‘the dollhouse’ had the same thing but instead of pills to take away your memory they use technology. The young people are in a brothel, the Johns pay for time with them and they get their memories erased.

  • I saw every episode of Dollhouse. This premise has a few similarities but Lucy isn’t having her memory wiped. Her brain isn’t being augmented to accommodate different personas while she is under.
