SNOWDEN (2015): Edward Snowden (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) 1st Images

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Snowden First Images. The first official Snowden (2015) movie pictures have been released for the Oliver Stone-directed film. The Snowden photographs feature Joseph Gordon-Levitt wearing glasses and in US Army fatigues. It is very interesting that in all of the news reports that I have seen on Edward Snowdon, none of them mentioned that he had enlisted in the United States Army or what happened to him during Basic Training.

What Joseph Gordon-Levitt had to say about Snowden and the US Army:

I was surprised when I first learned this about Snowden–that he enlisted in the US Army in 2004. He wanted to go fight in Iraq, but during basic training at Fort Benning, he broke both of his legs and received an administrative discharge. After that, he was still determined to serve his country (love him or hate him, you gotta admit the guy’s strong-willed) and so he ended up getting a job at the CIA, which is where his career in Intelligence began.

Today’s scenes felt like a really good way to start this shoot. It was hard, but of course, nowhere near as hard as real basic training. And me, I’m just honored and excited to be doing a soldier sequence with Oliver. I keep saying to myself: “fuck, this guy directed Platoon!”

Snowden cast also includes Shailene Woodley, Scott Eastwood, Nicolas Cage, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Timothy Olyphant, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Joely Richardson, Keith Stanfield, Melissa Leo, Rhys Ifans, Ben Schnetzer, Christy Meyer, Jaymes Butler, and Robert Firth.

On who is playing whom in Snowden:

Shailene Woodley as Snowden’s girlfriend Lindsay Mills; Melissa Leo as Citizenfour director Laura Poitras; Zachary Quinto as journalist Glenn Greenwald; Tom Wilkinson as political reporter Ewen MacAskill; Timothy Olyphant as a CIA agent who befriends Snowden; and Nicolas Cage as a former intelligence official.
