TV Review: Sons of Anarchy: Season 1

Sons of Anarchy, the best new television series on TV, wrapped up its first season a few weeks back. The series is good all around: the acting, the plotlines, the voice-over but what makes it stand out is that nothing is short-changed, especially the drama. Drama is first and foremost and it could easily be second or third. Kurt Sutter really knows how to write. Sons of Anarchy didn’t falter in one episode all season long and actually got better as the season progressed. I thought a series about bikers would be weak or just about the action. I was totally wrong and I was there almost every Wednesday to watch SAMCRO (The Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original), their old ladies and their past/present come to bite them on the ass. I’m looking forward to the second season of Sons of Anarchy. Are you?

I watched every episode. I am so glad I started watching. At first I was a skeptic, and I almost decided it couldn’t possibly be any good. But I gave it one episode and I was sold! I can’t wait to see where they go with this if it gets picked up for another season.
My thought is that next season would be about the rift in the club and the shift in the balance of power. Maybe season 3 would be full on Jax in charge. Cant wait!

I was skeptical too. Glad I tuned in. That rift has already begun. Lets see what they do with it.
Of course the show is going to get picked up again. It was one of F/X’s consistently high rated shows.

It was a really good show. Before it started, I was worried that with the Shield going away, that the network would struggle to get another good show. But this totally makes up for the void left by the departure of Michael Chiklis.

And they are bringing Damages back as well. That is a good show as well.

Loved SOA and watched it every week. Great to see Ron Perlman on the small scree and Cdn. homeboy Kim Coates as his bad-ass buddy. Good writing throughout and Katie Segal can act – who woulda thunk? Jax is a little light but a good supporting cast will see you through anything.

Damages is back, I forgot about that one. That was good too. I’ve always liked FX’s programming. I even watched Testees!

Katie Segal was a big surprise to me too. I had no idea she could pull that off so well. Near flawless performance throughout. I thought Jax was good though. I am drawn to the whole “confused lead torn between two things” thing. I thought he was fairly believable.

Hay Julian, nice to hear from you again man. It sucks they didn’t give you the new Robocop to direct. Did you approach them about it?

Anyway, I watched some episodes of SOA two or three times. F/X was very good about the re-runs, especially late night.

Katie Segal was arguably the best part of the show.

@Jon. I wish they didn’t cancel Over There, Thief and The Riches. All good shows. All good F/X shows.

The Riches was really good, but I didn’t get a chance to see the other two you mentioned. Do you know if they are out on DVD yet? I’ll have to start looking for them.

I totally love the show The Sons of Anarchy. Jax is my favorite biker in the group, with Clay Morrow as mysecond favorite. He is the coolest gang boss I’ve ever seen in a show. The show gives you an inside look into the actions of the Sons of Anarchy and any other biker gang you may have heard about. I believe this show is the most entertaining show of the year. I hope they put a lot more of the episodes on Hulu because there are only five episodes which are to be deleted soon. LOVE THE SONS!!!!!

Clay is very good Rose. Jax’s inner turmoil drives the show. This is by far the most entertaining show of the year. I didn’t even know the eps. were on Hulu. Thanks for the heads.

You’re welcome! Hulu is going to remove them in about four days which really sucks. Hopefully they will add new ones. I was really upset when i learned they were going to expire soon. Good luck finding the show online. If you find a place to watch them be sure to reply.

There is a movie called Hellride that just came out about a Biker gang. It’s not that good though.

SOA is pretty original. I haven’t seen anything like it (the subject matter) before.
