SPIDER-MAN (2018): Shameik Moore Cast As Miles Morales In Animated Film

Shameik Moore

Shameik Moore Set To Play Miles Morales In Animated Spider-Man Movie

The Get Down actor Shameik Moore is slated to lend his voice as Miles Morales in Sony Pictures‘ upcoming animated Spider-Man film.

Besides starring in the aforementioned Netflix original series, Moore is also known for playing the lead in Rick Famuyiwa’s Dope, for which he received a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.

Also set to appear in the project is Liev Schreiber, who will voice an unknown villain. Aside from this, little is known about the production although it is clear that it will not take place in the same continuity as either Marvel‘s Spider-Man franchise or Sony’s planned live-action spin-off films considering that the film will follow Miles Morales and not Peter Parker.

Superherohype, the source of this story, shares the following information about Miles Morales as well as the character’s history:

Created by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, Miles Morales was originally an inhabitant of Marvel’s Ultimate universe that existed between 2001 and 2015 as a parallel timeline reboot of Marvel continuity. Morales didn’t appear until Ultimate Fallout #4 in 2011, however, following the death of the Ultimate Peter Parker. The character has some of the same powers as the original Spider-Man, but he is also capable of briefly turning invisible and even a venom sting that can paralyze his foes.
