Spider-Man: Homecoming Easter Eggs, Cameos, References, and Post Credit Scenes Explained
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) has been released and it is a box office smash. During the film, like with any Marvel film, there were numerous instances of things included that were “inside,” things that only a die-hard Spider-Man comic book fans would get or even recognize. The Mr. Sunday video below goes over, in detail, those references.
The cameos in Spider-Man: Homecoming are pretty self-explanatory, especially the characters that have appeared in previous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. There are certain characters, however that are on-screen but it isn’t disclosed who they are or their true agenda. Some are significant and will play a future role in Peter Parker (Tom Holland)’s high school life. Some are villains. The video goes through them, one-by-one.
Those pesky credit and post-credit scenes are back in Spider-Man: Homecoming, giving the viewer a look at what is to come not only for Spider-Man but for Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) as well. Saying any more would spoil things.
Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s plot synopsis: “A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.”
