Spider-Man: Homecoming Clips, TV Spot, & New Cast Members Announced

New Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) movie clips, a movie TV commercial, and new casting news has been revealed by Columbia Pictures. Gwyneth Paltrow will be reprising her role as Pepper Potts from the Iron Man films and the first The Avengers film. Jennifer Connelly will be playing a character called Karen, also referred to as “Suit Lady.” This is just a shot in the dark, but I am guessing that Karen’s screen time in Spider-Man: Homecoming will be spent in a business suit. My other guess: Connelly is playing someone of significance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that Karen / Suit Lady is simply a codename for.

The released Spider-Man: Homecoming press kit also clarified whom seeming bit characters actually will be in the film. There are two Shockers in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Perhaps one of them gets captured, killed, or gets taken out of commission in some other way.  Logan Marshall-Green will be playing Jackson Brice / Shocker #1. Bokeem Woodbine will be playing Herman Schultz / Shocker #2. Michael Mando will be playing MacDonald “Mac” Gargan / Scorpion. Donald Glover will be playing Aaron Davis / Prowler.

That is a lot of bad guys for one film (if they all supervillain-out during Spider-Man: Homecoming). No wonder Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) shows up in this film. The gaggle of villains is unfortunate in my opinion. It is pretty predictable that most-if-not-all of them will be defeated by the end of the film (but then that is true of almost all superhero films).

Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s plot synopsis: “A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.”

Jon WattsSpider-Man: Homecoming also stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Michael Keaton, Garcelle Beauvais, Angourie Rice, Zendaya, Stan Lee, Hannibal Buress, and Kenneth Choi.
