A STAR IS BORN: Lady Gaga in Talks to Star

Lady Gaga A Star is Born

Lady Gaga in talks to star in A Star is Born remakeA Star is Born is no stranger to remakes; after its debut in 1937 starring Janet Gaynor, it was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand. It seems that this story needs to be told once in every generation, and it has to star one of that generation’s most iconic performers.

A Star is Born tells the story of an aspiring actress and singer, Esther Blodgett, who is discovered by Norman Maine, an older actor whose career and health are waning as a result of his alcohol dependency. Maine gets Blodgett into the Hollywood door just as he is being kicked out, and the film chronicles their success, their relationship, and the sacrifice to which it leads.

Lady Gaga, who was catapulted into stardom through a combination of her popular music and her quirky persona, has recently gravitated farther from music and more toward acting. Her stint in American Horror Story: Hotel won her a Golden Globe, and she has made various other onscreen appearances as of late. Gaga has screen tested for A Star is Born‘s starring role with Warner Bros, but there is no word yet on their response to her test.

Bradley Cooper is set to direct A Star is Born, for which there is no reported release date at this time.
