Its a shame, especially considering the success of other films like Gone in 60 Seconds...the remake was never meant to be like the original. Also was Titanic. Another retelling of the same old story, BUT it was done so well that it was very believeable, AND period correct.

I agree. They should have back dated the technology to match the technology from the original series. The same thing happened with the new Star Wars prequels.

Voyage Home??? GOOD????? the laimest of all trek flicks.
Listen yungens, I was tuned to the tube (and it was a REAL tube back then), when most of you were grabbin your mommys teets and gnawing on a fudgesicle!!!! . Star Trek...as goofy as it was sometimes... was still WAAAAAAY ahead of its time. The flicks started off ok but tanked later and lost that real trek feel.
The Star Trek-1 and the Wrath of Kahn= excellent in thier true to star trek form. The others were nothing more than "lets keep the cash cow alive". It wasnt until Nemesis that it got my attention back...BUT brace yourselves cause heres the rub.!!!
2009 Trek ends up being the same old condition as Star Wars and Fast and Fumeiest......To much glitz and way to tech advanced for the time period they want to portray. This would have been better off being "Son of Star Trek" where NEW kirk is actually James T.'s kid.. Cant tell a story with newbie tech and try to place it in the past. Recipe for a Warp Core Breach!!!!
