Star Trek 4 Greenlit With Chris Hemsworth to Return as George Kirk. Right before the release of Star Trek Beyond, Paramount has already announced that fans will be getting a fourth installment to the rebooted franchise with actor Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as George Kirk.

Paramount Pictures, Bad Robot, and Skydance are certainly looking beyond as the companies confirmed that Star Trek 4 is officially happening. It seems that the studio is confident that Star Trek Beyond will do well in the box office after great reviews from the press. Chris Pine and the rest of the cast will return for the next installment. On top of that, Thor’s Chris Hemsworth will be returning to the film franchise as George Kirk.

So how will George Kirk’s return play into the next Star Trek film? Well, according to Deadline, they revealed that the plot would involve the former captain crossing paths with his son James Kirk (Chris Pine), something that will be really interesting to see. Even though Chris was only in the first opening minutes of the 2009 film, he still was recognized for the role before playing the God of Thunder. There hasn’t been a release date or a director announced yet, but screenwriters J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are expected to return with J.J. Abrams as producer after directing the first two films.
