FX’s The Strain Bad White TV show trailer & season 3 preview. With Eph (Corey Stoll) now on the brink of being a liability – due to his preoccupation with something so relatively irrelevant as a son, of all things – his introduction to Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) takes on a potentially fatal edge. The trailer to ‘Bad White’ focuses on the Master’s (Jack Kesy, with the voice of Robin Atkin Downes) plan to leverage Zach (Max Charles) against the Book, while a season highlight trailer gives a better account of remaining roles, in the still escalating conflict.
Eldritch Palmer (Jonathan Hyde), his focus since ‘restored,’ again tries to renegotiate a little more White to his compensation package – with Eichorst (Richard Sammel) quite intent on making him work for it. Meanwhile, Eichorst’s processing plant project comes to the Hunters’ attention, as does its parallels to his last turn, as a processor of Human beings. A fact certainly not lost on Setrakian (David Bradley).
My favorite mismatched duo, Setrakian & Quinlan, each get background history flashback treatments. Quinlan has more years to cover, understandably enough, and the sum of his experience seems leveled at Eph, initially; while Setrakian’s more focused moment in time may play ironically against his feud with Eichorst.
Mostly, however, the season promo promises exactly what I’d like to see from an escalating conflict. New faces (blink, and you might miss a potential cast replacement, or two), new tactics, and new tricks (Walking Worm Bomb – now that’s adapting to the times we live in).
Now if they can just keep the sentimental plot driving to a minimum… well, at least the action looks satisfying enough….
‘Bad White’ also stars Kevin Durand, Miguel Gomez, Ruta Gedmintas, Taso Alexander, Cam Fergus, Christopher Jacot, George Nickolas K., and America Olivo. It airs Sunday, Sep. 4, at 10:00pm EST, on FX.
