Netflix’s Stranger Things Renewed for Season 2

Netflix‘s Stranger Things has been officially renewed for Season 2. Stranger Things heralded back to classic Steven Spielberg films and touched a cord with 60-90’s film fans. Cinephiles that grew up on those films immediately found the look and feel of those films in Stranger Things. Released a month ago, Stranger Things was well received by critics.

Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave the series an approval rating of 95%, based on 55 reviews, with a weighted average score of 8.1/10. The site’s critical consensus states, “Exciting, heartbreaking, and sometimes scary, Stranger Things acts as an addictive homage to Spielberg films and vintage 1980s television.” Review aggregator Metacritic gave the series a normalized score of 76 out of 100, based on 34 reviews, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.

Season 2 of Stranger Things will be executive produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Matt Duffer, and Ross Duffer. The Duffer brothers will return for Season 2 to write each episodes.

There is no word yet on which characters from Season 1 of Stranger Things will return. Season 1 of Stranger Things starred Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Matthew Modine, and Cara Buono.

Stranger Things‘ plot synopsis: “Set in Hawkins Indiana in the 1980’s, Stranger Things chronicles the search for a young boy who vanishes into thin air under highly suspicious circumstances. His mother (Winona Ryder) opens an investigation into the boy’s disappearance with local authorities that unravels a series of mysteries involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl. A love letter to the ubiquitous cult classics of the 80’s, Stranger Things is a coming of age story for three boys that draws this quaint community into a world where mysteries lurk beneath the surface.”
