THE AVENGERS (2012): Steve Rogers Alternate Introduction Deleted Scene

Chris Evans Hayley Atwell Captain America The First Avenger

Steve Rogers Alternate Introduction Deleted Scene. Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers (2012) Blu-ray deleted scene: alternate Steve Rogers introduction movie clip stars Chris Evans and Stan Lee. Excellent scene in my opinion. I wish Whedon had found a way to work it into the film. This would have been a much better introduction for Steve Rogers/Captain America and possibly a better opening to the film than The Avengers Alternate Opening Deleted Scene.

The Stan Lee cameo I do not really care about but how Rogers’ former associates were all dead except for Peggy Carter was very good. I would have been weird and wonderful if he had called her. I understand why he didn’t though, especially after reading The Forever War.

Some think otherwise:

Still, I understand cutting this from the film. It would have slowed down the early momentum even more, and the fact that Cap saves his waitress later in the film doesn’t really qualify as some kind of major pay off. Not to mention, Stan Lee’s cameo in the final film has a little more humor and self-awareness than this admittedly funny line.

This is one of those instances where the deleted scene is a perfect entity unto itself, but correctly missing from the final film.

The Avengers also starred Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Lou Ferrigno, Jenny Agutter, Gwyneth Paltrow,Paul Bettany, Alicia Sixtos, Frank Powers, Darren Kendrick, and Joseph M. Abbott.
