THE BATMAN: Ben Affleck Rumored To Have Second Thoughts About Playing Hero

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck Said To No Longer Be Interested In Playing Batman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck is reported to have doubts about continuing in the role of Batman.

The rumor might come as a surprise to some, but others may simply find it to be the logical conclusion of preceding developments. Previously tapped to not only star but direct and write the planned solo spin-off The Batman, Affleck seemed set to play a major role in Warner Bros‘ growing DC Extended Universe. A couple weeks back, however, it was revealed that he would no longer helm the production, citing the time and commitment required for the position. Now, it seems that he may no longer even be able to play the Caped Crusader.

All that being said, it must be stressed that this is only a rumor so far, as CBR.com makes abundantly clear:

Note that this should be taken with a major grain of salt, but Collider Movie Talk host John Campea indicated in his last episode that three separate sources have informed him that Affleck is doing all that he can to get out of any future Batman appearances beyond this year’s “Justice League.” “What all three have told me was that… they’re telling me, Ben Affleck, make no mistake, does want out. He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore,” said Campea.

**** We hired Reggie, fulfilled our obligations to him, and he quit in the middle of covering two TV series w/ no notice and no explanation. He then ignored our emails asking him to complete his coverage (we had no one else to cover those TV shows). He didn't care. We regret hiring him and we regret putting our trust in him. **** An aspiring writer, longtime film junkie, and former UCLARadio.com disc jockey (where I graduated with a BA in Political Science), I've made the jump from penning book reviews and current events editorials for HonorSociety.org to writing movie and TV news and reviews. When I'm not working towards my certificate in Radio and Television/Video Production at Fullerton College, I enjoy reading (horror, science fiction, and historical/political nonfiction are particular favorites), participating in my school's TV and theatre clubs, attending movie screenings, plays, concerts, and other events, and trying to come up with pithy things to say on social media. Believe it or not, there are occasions where I find time to write for my own leisure.
